The best anti-aging components in wrinkle creams
By: Geoff Hopkins

Wrinkle creams today offer many benefits thanks to advances in anti-aging skin care research. With a few nuggets of information about what makes a wrinkle cream effective, picking the right wrinkle cream does not have to be a daunting task. The key is to know which ingredients to look for that give a wrinkle cream its anti-aging effects. Some of the ingredients to look for include:

Acetyl hexapeptide-3: a face muscle relaxant that reduces tension in the muscles in your face that cause wrinkles. It is considered to be one of the finest anti-aging substances, second only to Outline toxin. Acetyl hexapeptide-3 is applied directly to the surface of the skin and does not require an injection, unlike Botulinum toxin.

Palmitoyl pentapeptide-3 promotes the manufacture of collagen in skin cells. The shortfall of collagen in older skin contributes to fine lines and wrinkles. A rise in collagen plumps skin and flattens out winkles. Many judge this to be the essential component of any anti-aging skin care formula.

Retinol, a form of vitamin A, is an antioxidant. Vitamin A is able to accelerate skin cell renewal. Retinol was the first antioxidant to be commonly used in wrinkle creams sold without a prescription.

Hydroxy acids (alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids and poly hydroxy acids): acids that cause skin exfoliation. Hydroxy acids are man-made adaptations of the acids normally found in sugary fruits. These acids eliminate dead skin and allow a new layer of skin cells to grow, a process called exfoliation. A word of caution: exfoliation can make skin more susceptible to damage from sunlight, so take the correct safety precautions before using a cream that contains hydroxyl acids.

Coenzyme Q10. Coenzyme Q10 is a critical skin nutrient that helps control cellular energy production. In addition to reducing already present wrinkles, use of coenzyme Q10 can also be a protective agent if applied before going out in the sun.

Copper peptides combine copper, a part of living cells, with small protein fragments called peptides when applied to damaged skin. Copper peptides eliminate damaged collagen and elastin from skin, encourage the production of collagen and improve the performance of antioxidants.

You should remember that most wrinkle creams have not been rigorously tested. Consequently, it is not necessary to start with the most expensive one. Most individuals would agree that the same ingredients work just as well in cheaper products as they do in more expensive products. When you make a choice on the best wrinkle cream, you should be an informed customer.
